eGlobeTrekker is more than just an online travel trivia game. Take a look. The photos and trivia are contributed by users, real people, who love to travel and explore.
They have created trivia challenges not just for "common tourist sites" but also for "off the beaten track" places and even stuff that "only the locals know."
And as you play trivia challenges, you can even "meet the locals" from around the world!
Yes, users not only play the travel trivia, they also
- create and contribute the trivia from their own travel photos
- review, check and approve each other's trivia challenges
- and they are "the locals," ready to meet others and talk about their home and their culture.
In other words, users don't just play the game, they become part of the game too!
The game basically involves answering trivia (or site challenges) by location.
There are three categories of trivia: "common tourist sites", "off the beaten track", and "what only the locals know." (i.e. there is something for everyone!)
You can choose your location by selecting the global region, country, state (or area), and city (or category).
Or you can have the program randomly choose a location for you!
Once you have correctly answered all the challenges for a location, you will receive a passport stamp for that location in your eGlobeTrekker passport (see More fun stuff).
Once you have completed a certain number of challenges and/or locations, you will be invited to become a Local Guide.
Complete even more challenges to be invited to become a Reviewer, and even more for a Contributor.
For first time players, you are given an initial amount of credits. A few credits are deducted for each hint that you take. A lot more credits are deducted if you guess the wrong answer.
But if you answer the trivia correctly and within a given amount of time, you will receive credits. The less time it takes for you to answer the trivia, the more credits you will receive.
And coming soon: daily credit bonus and virtual souvenirs!
Each player gets a customized eGlobeTrekker passport, where you can collect passport stamps for each location completed.
Because eGlobeTrekker is linked with Facebook, it can use your public information (such as your name, profile photo, home town or current city, and/or birthday if given)
to create your very own eGlobeTrekker passport!
